Sandwich Review in NYC #29 (Mr. Banh Mi)

This small banh mi shop is all the way out in Bensonhurst on 86th Street. I ordered the bulgogi beef banh mi--bulgogi, cucumber, pickled carrot & daikon, mayo, cilantro, scallions on a soft baguette. I got spicy jalapeno on the side.

I think this is my favorite Mr. in NYC so far. Beef is juicy and goes well with the rich, creamy mayo. I love the shoe-string cut carrot and daikon. Bread is home made and perfect.

Rating: 4/4

I copied their recipe and made my own bulgogi banh mi for a Lunar New Year potluck in my building. Sorry for the bad picture quality. I got a lot of compliments on it and it ran out quickly.

Market Thoughts

Big landmark event today--market is reacting to the DeepSeek news. It's basically a super cheap AI model from China that raises huge questions about the AI themes in the future.

Does deepseek fundamentally alter AI CapEx spending or NOT?

Some people think it won't and NVDA/TSM will continue to prosper.

Some people think it will, that DeepSeek found a cost-cutting cheat code, and that this is the bust of the AI picks and shovels theme (or even the greater U.S. tech bull market with MAG7).

My unqualified opinion is that NVDA/TSM will be fine and this is an overreaction. Currently it's down 15%. If it goes closer to 110 I might have to take a shot at it. Honestly who the fuck knows?
