Sandwich Review in NYC #27 (Six Point Brewery)
I love Six Point Brewery at City Point. I honestly believe it's the best bargain on the first floor if you only eat the daily specials. Dekalb Market is great but I understand if some think it's a bit pricey. Just for an apples to apples comparison, you can get a double smashburger with fries for 10 on Tuesday at Sixpoint while the one burger place at Dekalb Market, BK Jani, charges 18 for a burger and 5 for fries. That's a 13 dollar difference and I like the Sixpoint Burger better. Even without the special, it's still just 15 while a chain like FiveGuys is at 17 for the same burger and fries combo.
If I had to review the burgers, they'd get a 4/4. They do a perfectly crispy and browned double smash patty. But I'm not doing burgers at the moment, I'm doing regular sandwiches. I decided to try their chopped turkey and cheese--hot peppers, onion, white BBQ, lettuce, tomato. It's like if Pickler's hot turkey and Farmer in the Deli's chopped turkey had a lovechild.
It's okay. The sauce kind of overwhelms all the flavors and the veggies are soggy. I feel like I'm eating a salad between soft bread. Maybe chopped sandwiches just aren't my favorites... they're all tasty, just not to the 3-star tier. I'm starting to better understand what I really like and what I just think is fine, even if it's hard to write out the small differences.
Rating: 2/4
If you go to Six Point Brewery, get the burgers. And eat them on Tuesday's to save money.
