Sandwich Review in NYC #11 (Em Kitchen)
Em is a modern Vietnamese spot out in Bensonhurst. They serve good pho and chicken wings too.
Got the beef sandwich. Pretty good--again they execute all the basics, similar to Diem Eatery. Whatever housemade mayo they made, it's excellent and they didn't overdo it.
Rating: the sandwich is a 3/4. As a Viet place in NYC, it's a 4/4. Em Bistro in DUMBO is also awesome.
I'm currently trying to make my own banh mi sandwiches for a potluck at my kid's day care with all the other parents. I'm doing ground turkey, which isn't traditionally in banh mi but it's Thanksgiving theme so why not. Pairing it with pickled carrots & daikon, scallions, shallots, cilantro, and some chipotle mayo. Hopeful it turns out good and that I get a few compliments for it.
