Sandwich Review in NYC #25 (Cuban Shack)
Cuban Shack on Hoyt St--apparently it used to be My Cuban Spot in Carroll Gardens. This place doesn't have a lot of buzz but it really deserves more.
Ordered the Cubano--a classic with pork, ham, swiss cheese, mayo/mustard. They even gave me a thin lemon/garlic? sauce to dip it into. I think it's called mojo but I'm unsure.
This may have been the best Cubano I ever had. It beats El Punto Cubano, Havana Outpost, or Sophies nearby. Meat is tender, sandwich composition is on point and bread is perfectly toasted. You really never think about the bread unless it's terrible or fantastic but this bread really found a way to shine (literally too bc it's a bit on the greasy side) for me.
