Sandwich Review in NYC #10 (Picnic Basket)
Picnic Basket on 37th St--this is one of the few places that I didn't find online nor is it close to my local neighborhood. It's just a place I walked by when I was on my way to playing pool in Midtown. Cozy little place with ciabatta sandwiches, some with a Latin-American or Mediterrean twist on known American classics.
I got the Chimi Chicken sandwich.
Pretty good. Grilled chicken breast is rarely exciting to me but they got the chicken juicy and well-cooked. The chimi spread + spicy mayo dip was top notch.
An hour earlier watching NFL football on a chilly Sunday afternoon but then I turned it off. It's kind of a shitty slate of games where I'm not excited about any particular game nor is there much at stake in other ways. I don't think I love football in the pure way I do with baseball/basketball--it's more of an addiction, fueled by fantasy sports and the Redzone channel. Random NFL thoughts from this Sunday:
- The product just isn't that good this year. Some people blame it on lower offense from "two high safety" defenses or maybe the transition from college is harder than ever for QBs.
- Caleb Williams might just be too inaccurate to be good. Bears gotta get rid of Shane Waldron
- Sam Darnold is regressing again. He can clearly execute the offense just fine and move the chains but he's just throwing too many dumb turnovers. My precious USC QBs aren't doing well this week.
- Just give me another fourth quarter 49ers choke job and I'll be happy. Currently 17-13 Bucs with 14min to go even though they without Evans and Godwin.
