Main blog ideas I'm working on

Life is short... writing good stuff is still something I want to do and although I don't love trading anymore, it's clearly a subject where I can communicate concepts well. Write what you know, that's what they say.

Here are some future ideas, some I've worked on extensively and some are just ideas still.

Clockwork Part III -- I know I've dragged my feet on this one for a bit. I'm condensing the third part and forgoing the challenge of trying to write about every different momentum phenomenon that happened during 2020-2021 (SPACs, NFT, meme stocks, etc). That was my initial plan but now I just want to focus on the guy and his growth from total piker who made $100 to a guy who made 8-figs/year. I'm making progress.

Professor Boring and his Scan Machine -- this is the start of Retail Trader Series. I don't just want to write about myself, I like writing about the characters I meet. That's what made Prop Trader Series a fun write. Professor Boring is the only "guru" I ever really learned from directly and he's quite the character. Ultimately we parted ways and I didn't really mesh with his new brainchild of "scan trading". I was probably a little harsh calling it a gigantic waste of time in my last post but I'll break down where I had disagreements. I have no ill will, I just felt like I had to go a different direction. You'll enjoy this one.

The Worst Roommate Ever and The World of Private Stocks -- I made my first foray into private pre-IPO investing in 2015. I invested a dangerous amount of my entire net worth into ABNB. They took forever to IPO and then Covid destroyed all global travel and I thought I was proper fucked. Then it worked out ok. I've since continued investing into pre-IPO plays in 2023. You know how I learned about this shit? My roommate, a broker and the worst roommate ever, got me into it. That's the cool part of big cities like NYC--sometimes you get lucky and you just meet someone who brings you into a totally new world you never knew about. I haven't started this one yet, just an idea. I think most people have no idea this is getting bigger and bigger... SpaceX and OpenAI stock are investable opportunities if you know the right people.

Champions Basketball League, the dumbest fkn investment I ever made -- the worst roommate ever also got me into this one. Luckily I put a tiny amount into it compared to ABNB. You can google 'champions basketball league' and 'carl george' and see what a shitshow it was. Ice Cube's Big3 ate it for lunch.

Everything you need to know about the dark art of short selling -- this is if I ever wanted to go for a more mainstream, educational route with my blog. I'd go over the psychology and dynamics, the misconceptions people have, the many strategies that are out there, the historical role of short selling, and the fun part--historical examples of short battles (think HLF: Icahn vs Ackman) and short squeezes (like Volkswagen 2008) and short seller triumphs (ala The Big Short). Just an idea for now. I'd want to this to be one of the best resources ever for any regular person who simply googles "short selling--how does it work". This would be an 8-part project that would take forever.

A fictionalized version of "Insert famous finance character doing interesting finance thing"--I don't want to spoil what character/historical event I'm thinking about. This is still super concept mode. I need to develop more skills to get here... like maybe being able to draw a graphic novel or something. The idea is to recreate a real life event but with dialogue and character arcs and crisp explanations to break down what happened and make any average Joe be able to understand it. Maybe too ambitious for me to execute.

Mini-post ideas -- easy stuff, comfort writing. something to punch out in a day just to do it.

The five worst trades I ever made (related idea: a compilation of OTHER traders' worst trades)

8 types of traders you meet on a prop desk

rage quitting -- 10 times i rage quit in the past

10 ways to be an insufferable twat on fintwit

Naked Short Selling is Actually Real -- I did it before -- this is something where I have an irrational fear a cult stock will link to this and use it as proof that there's manipulation happening in their stock... also this could get me into trouble even though it was 10+ years ago and it was "sorted out" by compliance

5 Interesting Trades I Made in College -- I did Part I of this a LONG time ago, the phase of my life was I was a goldbug who bought actual gold... I might re-write it. I also wanted to write about the first biotech I ever learned about--AVNR or Avanir Pharma--because it was my best friend's favorite pet play and I thought it was stupid... but somehow it worked out for a buyout?!?
