I don't want to have a opinion
Something divisive is going on in the media and I probably don't have to tell you about what it is (assuming you're American). My best friend has been texting me updates on it, mostly against my will. I tell him I don't want to hear it. I'm opting out. I don't want to know anything about Suspect A. I don't want to know his beliefs. I don't want to know about his relationships. I don't want to know about his mental illnesses.
On the other side of this, I don't have anything to say about Victim A. There's just nothing to say. I'm annoyed at the idea that you will then form an opinion on me for my opinion on Victim A. That's the world we live in right now.
The more exposure I get to a viral media story, the more likely it is I will develop a take on it. It's just natural. And once you develop a take in your head, you want to get it out there and share that stupid thought. Why? Because humans are social animals and we want to be heard. Everyone wants their shitty take about Victim A and Suspect A to be heard.
He's a bad person and here's why.
That shouldn't have happened to him and here's why
Here's why this is going to make society worse
Fuck off already. There's only one very safe take that 90% of regular people agree upon and that's probably all that needs to be said. Violence is bad. Do I need to chime in and say what a million public figures are already saying on social media and press releases? Do I need to craft a more elegant message that would basically reiterate the exact same thing? No. That adds zero value to anyone.
So yeah, I'm out. No more updates on this. I see CNN on at the gym, I'm throwing a rock at the screen. Go live real life. For me, I spend time with my family. If you don't have a family, then go find a hobby. If I need to shoot off some dumbass take, I tell my wife to get it out of my system. It all stays in the home--as it should. Don't spend your time on this stuff, it rots your brain.
