90 day pause
I'm taking a 90 day pause from the market. I deactivated twitter and I don't think I'll be writing much. We have some long family vacations coming up so this is a good time to take a break. Trading during this tariff ordeal exposed how mentally ill-equipped I am to trade at the moment. I didn't lose any money but I don't want to wait until that happens to force my hand.
I trimmed 15% of my long-term equity exposure into this rip--basically anything that I could sell without tax consequences, I sold it. I loss harvested whatever I could and I sold stocks in tax advantaged accounts (mostly in my wife's accounts, since mine were already empty). I think this bounce is a gift for anyone who got caught off guard and underestimated the policy impacts. Our long-term cost basis is now almost entirely pre-2024 entries. I wish I sold higher but I don't want to blame myself too much either--I didn't want to pay attention and make a big move. I'm open to the idea of selling more at a later point.
I don't really want to care about markets right now. I am very blessed and I want to focus on what really matters--which is family, friends, health, and happiness. Good luck to you all.
